Ingredient
1/2 quantity Danish pastry
Almond Filling
60g softened butter
8 tablespoons caster sugar
1 cup finely chopped almonds
almonds essence
2 beaten eggs to glaze
12 maraschino cherries
Almond Glaze Icing
1 cup sifted icing sugar
4-6 tablespoons milk
few drops almond essence
1- Grease baking trays with melted butter,open dough and cut squares (10cm), Mix the butter,sugar and almond essence to make a smooth paste.
2- Place a teaspoon of the filling paste in the center of each square ,then fold in the four corners .Secure the tips with beaten egg and push a halved cherry into the center ,Put on the trays.
3- cover with plastic loosely and leave in warm place until risen ,Glaze with beaten egg and bake in a 200'C preheated oven for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
4- Transfer on a rack to cool ,Mix the Glaze contents and drizzle on top over the pastries.
